Good Daze Tattoo: Where Art and Community Meet in Santa Ana
Tucked away in the heart of Santa Ana, Good Daze Tattoo is more than just a tattoo shop—it's a place where creativity, culture, and community come together. Led by the talented Andrew Castruita, this shop has quickly become a local favorite for its unique vibe, skilled artists, and deep connection to the city.
The Journey to Good Daze
Andrew's story is deeply rooted in Santa Ana. "Growing up brown, working class, and often with less than we needed," he says, "taught me to work hard for what I want." With over 11 years in the tattoo industry—four of those at Good Daze—Andrew has built something truly special, starting with just a small team and growing into a thriving shop with 10 full-time artists.
What began as a way to support his growing family has now evolved into a creative hub where talented artists and tattoo lovers come together. It’s not just about ink—it’s about creating a space that feels like home.
Santa Ana: More Than Just a Place
For Andrew, Santa Ana is more than just a hometown—it’s an essential part of who he is. "This city taught me the value of hard work and community," he explains. That deep-rooted spirit of resilience and unity is alive and well at Good Daze. "The local support is like nothing else," Andrew shares. "If people know you're homegrown, they’ll support you all the way."
As Santa Ana experiences rapid gentrification and rising costs, Andrew hopes the city can hold on to its identity. "My only hope for Santa Ana's future is that it retains its identity through the gentrification. We're already on the right track. Yes, everything is new, and prices are going up, but you still see a lot of Santaneros opening their businesses. The local support is unmatched here. If they know you're homegrown, they will support you. All we have is each other."
It’s clear that despite the changes, the heartbeat of Santa Ana is strong, and Good Daze Tattoo is proud to be a part of that.
Challenges and Lessons Along the Way
Running a small business comes with its fair share of challenges, and for Good Daze, one of the biggest has been marketing the shop as a whole. “We want people to see what makes this space so special—not just the individual artists, but the vibe and energy of the entire shop,” Andrew explains.
But even with these challenges, Good Daze continues to grow and thrive. Each artist brings their own creative flair, and when they're not tattooing, they work on personal projects like murals and paintings. Good Daze is a place where art in all its forms is celebrated.
What’s Happening at Good Daze?
The artists at Good Daze are always working on something exciting. When they’re not tattooing, they’re busy with creative side projects, from murals to canvas paintings. The shop is more than just a tattoo parlor—it’s a creative hub where artists bring their vision to life.
