Meet Danny Askar from The Great Greek Mediterranean Grill


Q: We'd love to kick things off by getting to know you a bit better. Could you share a little about yourself and the story behind your journey so far?


AAs a parent, I have always advocated being active and health-conscious and believe that it’s important for people to have access to healthier food choices,” said Askar in a statement. “Opening an authentic, fast-casual Mediterranean restaurant that conveniently offers flavorful, satisfying food, felt like the perfect fit for our family.


Q: We're curious about your experience growing up, living or working in Santa Ana. What does Santa Ana mean to you, and how has it shaped who you are today?


A: At The Great Greek Mediterranean Grill we celebrate not just the art of fine dining, but also the vibrant soul of Santa Ana itself.The city of Santa Ana, starting with the honor of our mayor, Valerie Amezcua, to the city Council members, the members of commerce to the police and fire department along with the surrounding communities have been providing continues help and support since the first day of opening our doors.Beyond our commitment to exceptional food, we take pride in fostering connections with our community. Our partnerships with local charities, artists, and businesses reflect our belief in giving back and nurturing the vibrant tapestry of Santa Ana. Giving back to our city is one of ultimate goal behind our existence. We host events that support churches and celebrate local talent, such as sponsoring high school sport teams and fun activities such as Taste of Santa Ana.   


Q: What are your hopes and dreams for Santa Ana's future? What kind of changes would you love to see in the community?


A: My dream to educate and build a heath conscious community which understand the importance of eating high quality healthy food to live a longer and happier life. Unfortunately, we live in a world full of Fried food, pizzas and burgers. By expanding the variety of delicious healthy food choices through providing authentic Mediterranean options to the community, we can build a new generation with healthier food habits and make a difference in the future of the people quality of life.


Q: Every path has its ups and downs. Looking back, what have been some challenges you've faced, and what lessons have you picked up along the way? 


A: The biggest lessons is to work as a team appreciate and reward their handwork. We win together or lose together. 


Q: We're all ears when it comes to learning about your work and what lights you up. Is there anything special you're currently working on that you're excited about? We'd love to hear what's keeping you busy these days!


A: We have been focusing on Catering and delivering to the local business and homes. Our fresh food travels great. It has been a fun adventure with lots of success. We are always working on training, recruiting and mentoring new employing. Also, we are currently working on opening our next coming location in Irvine.

Q: Before we wrap up, we want to hand the mic over to you. Is there a message you're eager to get out there? Maybe something you wish people would ask you more often?


A: We get asked about our mission:The Great Greek Mediterranean Grill’s mission to "Live Your Life Deliciously", the chef-inspired menu features homegrown recipes and flavors, like the Great Greek Gyro, as well as Lamb, Steak and Chicken Souvlaki Plates. In addition, guests can enjoy made-to-order fresh Feta Fries and four house-made dips including Hummus, Tzatziki, Melitzanosalata (eggplant dip) and Tirokafteri (spicy roasted red pepper).The Great Greek Mediterranean Grill offers a wide variety of customizable options, including a Classic Greek Salad with choice of Gyro Meat, Salmon or several other protein choices. Guests can also indulge in must-have desserts like Baklava Ice Cream and Mom’s Rice Pudding. Everything is prepared in-house with fresh ingredients that bring traditional flavors from recipes that have been used for generations.
